Inaugural CompIC ME Generates Great Interest

NetComposites hosted the inaugural CompIC ME (Composites in Construction Middle East) conference in Dubai, UAE, on 9th – 10thFebruary.

The event, sister conference to CompIC which is held in The Netherlands biannually, will take place on alternate years.

The conference, sponsored by Premier Composite Technologies (PCT), opened with an interactive session which questioned the barriers that are faced in using composites in construction. The results of this session created some lively conversation and participation from the delegates. NetComposites are now creating a working group which will focus on the two categories which elicited the most response during this session; the lack of education, training and marketing and the need for standards in the use of composites.

An opening keynote presentation was given by Paolo Dassi of PCT who spoke about ‘The Highest FRP Structural Shell in the World’.  PCT also invited the audience to view its manufacturing facilities through a tour that concluded the event.

Sue Keighley, Events and Communications Specialist at NetComposites, commented, “We were really pleased with the response that the event received and the outlook for an ongoing conference in this region is very encouraging. We are now looking at dates for the 2018 event. In the meantime, we look forward to welcoming you in The Netherlands for CompIC 2017.”
